Core Teams

Land Acquisition

Our land acquisition teams play a critical role in identifying and securing sites for future projects.  Professionals in this field combine market insight and negotiation skills to source viable land opportunities that align with our strategic growth objectives. It’s a dynamic and rewarding area of the business, offering the chance to directly influence the success and scale of new developments.

“untypical is supportive, dynamic and people focused. It's a place where new ideas are valued and where both personal and professional development are genuinely encouraged. I hope to progress into a land buying role when I complete my MBA in Real Estate and Construction at UCEM.”

Design and Innovation

The design team plays a vital role in shaping the vision and identity of our homes and communities. Working closely with architects, planners, and consultants, they translate development goals into creative, practical, and visually compelling designs. From initial concepts to detailed layouts, the team ensures each project is not only functional and cost-effective but also aligns with our sustainability objectives and the needs of future occupants.

Beyond meeting current standards, the team actively explores new ideas, materials, and design solutions to deliver more sustainable, resilient, and future-ready communities that enhance quality of life and minimise environmental impact.

Planning

Our planners navigate the complex landscape of local policies, community needs, and regulatory requirements to guide projects from concept to approval. Combining strategic thinking with technical expertise, they ensure our developments are both viable and sustainable, whilst meeting planning legislation and stakeholder expectations.

Surveying, Estimating, and Buying

Surveying, estimating, and buying are essential functions that keep our new developments on time, on budget, and built to specification. Surveyors manage costs and the procurement of our contractors, estimators provide accurate project forecasts, and buyers source the right materials at the right price. Together, these roles ensure financial control, procurement efficiency, and commercial success throughout the development process.

“At untypical, I'm working towards a level 4 quantity surveying qualification with the CIOB. I usually work from 8am to 4.30pm and take a day-release to focus on my apprenticeship work. The team is incredibly supportive, and the work is varied, so every day brings something new.”

Technical

Our technical teams bridge the gap between design and construction. They ensure that every detail - from engineering requirements to building regulations — is accurately translated into buildable solutions. By coordinating with consultants, contractors, and internal teams, the technical departments help deliver quality developments that are safe, efficient, and compliant with all necessary standards.

Construction

The construction teams are responsible for bringing a new project to life, turning plans and designs into completed homes and communities. They manage the day-to-day operations on site, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. From groundwork to final finishes, the construction teams play a hands-on role in delivering projects on time and within budget.

“The best part of my apprenticeship with untypical is the progression opportunities and hands-on experience I get on-site. I am actively involved in the site decision making, solving problems and learning directly from the very experienced site managers I have been placed with.”

Safety, Health & Environment

Safety, Health and Environment is essential to ensuring all projects are planned and executed responsibly and sustainably.  SHE oversees compliance with legal and regulatory standards, promotes a culture of safety on construction sites, and minimises environmental impact throughout the development lifecycle.  By integrating SHE principles into every stage of a project, we protect our people, safeguard the public, and contribute to long-term environmental stewardship.

Sales & Marketing

Our Sales & Marketing teams play a vital role in driving demand, building brand awareness and ultimately securing buyers for our new homes.  The teams are effectively responsible for developing and executing strategies to promote properties, understand market trends, and connect with target audiences.  From creating compelling campaigns and managing digital channels to coordinating show homes and enhancing customer engagement, Sales & Marketing ensure that our homes are positioned competitively, whilst placing the customer at the forefront of what we do.

“Stepping into the role of Content Creator was both the most exciting and most challenging moment in my career journey so far. The work is creative and varied, and the team in the office makes it even better - it's a really supportive and welcoming environment.”
