I previously worked for Project Eleven as a subcontractor for Hopkins Homes and developed a good working relationship with the customer services team. I often heard how they enjoyed working for Hopkins Homes and the different opportunities they had. I have always been keen to push myself as far as I can and to have a successful career. When I then saw the Trainee role as a site manager, it was a no brainer. This role would allow me to go through lots of training and to develop knowledge and skills which will set me up for life.

What is the best part of your apprenticeship / about working for untypical?
The best part about being an apprentice with Hopkins Homes and untypical is the progression opportunities and the hands-on experience on site. I am actively involved in site making decision, solving problems and learning directly from the very experienced site managers I have been placed with.
I aspire to progress into a senior management role within the construction industry. I want to have a career where I am constantly learning and progressing and leading by example to others. Ultimately, I want to lead award-winning projects. I am very excited to see where the future takes me.
What has been the most challenging aspect of your apprenticeship / role to date?
The most challenging aspect of my apprenticeship so far has been learning to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities on a live site and staying calm under pressure. There is so much to learn and take in, however after only a few months I feel confident in prioritising effectively and staying organised. Being able to ask the right questions when I need support has pushed me to grow quickly.
I work 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday with 1 day attending my apprenticeship virtually.
