untypical continues support for Women into Home Building programme with new regional placements

untypical is offering a new round of Women into HomeBuilding placements across its operating regions, with opportunities available in Bury St Edmunds and Woolpit in Suffolk, as well as Exeter and Derby. These placements will be delivered through untypical’s homebuilding brands, Hopkins Homes and Tilia Homes.

The Women into Home Building programme is a fully funded three-week initiative designed to provide women with a practical introduction to site management careers. Participants begin with a week of online training and insight sessions before moving on to two weeks of hands-on experience on active construction sites. The programme also offers support with travel and childcare costs, helping to remove common barriers to entry.

Through this initiative, untypical aims to create meaningful pathways into construction for women at all stages of their careers - whether they are considering a career change, returning to work, or entering the workforce for the first time.

The impact of the programme is already being seen across the business. Claire, now a Trainee Assistant Site Manager, joined untypical after completing the Women into Home Building programme. Her journey highlights the tangible opportunities the initiative creates and the long-term value it brings to both individuals and the industry.

Applications for the May 2026 placements are open until Sunday 22 March (midnight). Women interested in exploring a career in site management are encouraged to apply and take the first step into homebuilding.

untypical has reaffirmed its commitment to improving access and diversity within the construction industry by continuing its support for the Women into Home Building programme.
